About Us
Sparkling Wine Production
Our sparkling wine production is based on quick processing without maceration, gentle pressing, and fermentation at 12–15°C. The wines mature in stainless steel tanks for 5 months. Secondary fermentation—the traditional method of bottle fermentation—lasts 1.5 to 2 years. Six months after disgorgement, the sparkling wines are released to the market.
Currently, three sparkling wines are available for sale, with three more in production and aging, including a Muscat sparkling wine that will be launched at the end of the year.
Our goal for this and the coming year is to modernize the equipment used in traditional-method sparkling wine production, which will significantly enhance precision and quality while also simplifying and accelerating the production process.
A Love for Sparkling Wines
I fell in love with sparkling wine production from the very beginning, starting with those first experimental bottles my father and I made just for our own enjoyment.
Our passion for sparkling wines is so strong that it has become a way of life, and by the end of 2025 we plan to dedicate 90% of our production to sparkling wines.
Awards
Three gold medals for three sparkling wines at the Continental Croatia Exhibition 2024.
A gold medal with an impressive 95 points at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards in London 2024 crowned our Rosé Tradition 2021 as the best and only gold-winning sparkling wine in Croatia, giving us a tremendous boost.
Our second sparkling wine, Dominus Tradition 2021, won a silver medal with an impressive 93 points.
Key Moments in Our History
The wine story began about twenty years ago, when the family started winemaking as a hobby.
2016. Years after taking the vineyards into my own hands, I invested in innovation, modernizing production, and expanding the vineyards. What began as a hobby evolved into serious winemaking, and we started marketing premium wines under the Vina Furjan brand.
The vineyards are planted with Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Riesling, Graševina, and Yellow Muscat, and are located along a route stretching from Vinica Brega through the wine road of the Cestići region.
Excellent exposure, micro-locations, favorable climate, and the most modern cultivation and care techniques have enabled significant progress in achieving top-quality grapes for winemaking.
In 2018, Vina Furjan began a new chapter with the bottling of its first sparkling wines produced using the traditional method of bottle fermentation. A blend of Graševina and Chardonnay resulted in the creation of the sparkling wine “Dominus,” which in Latin means: lord, first, ruler.
Following the initial success with the first sparkling wines, the first Rosé sparkling wine made from Pinot Noir was introduced in 2019.
Two years later, the TRADITION line of sparkling wines was launched, featuring a more complex expedition liqueur.
